Andrea's Medical Trek to Nepal
Tax deductible
This October I will be joining a group of physicians, PA's, and nurses on a medical trek to Nepal. Nepal is still struggling to get back on its feet a year after two major earthquakes struck the country, killing nearly 9,000 people and forcing a million more to abandon their homes. Many of the victims are still homeless and living in desperate conditions in isolated villages across the country.
Getting to these out-of-the-way villages is not easy. The trails that lead to some of them, which were near the epicenter and among the hardest hit, are steep, rocky — at times almost impassable — and filled with the stench of donkey urine and dung.
In addition to clean water and housing, these villagers need medical care. As a result, our team will be hiking to a Buddhist Monastery in the Taksindu region. We will attend to the needs of almost 700 patients who in some cases will have walked for two days to reach us. As most of you know, I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. My particular role will be to set up a pharmacy and to manage and dispense various medications. Your donations will help defray the costs for personnel, Sherpa guides, medical supplies, and medications. All donations will go to the Physicians Care Clinic as we rebuild these Nepali villages during the 2016 Taksindu Medical Mission.
Please share this campaign and spread the word!
