Plagiocephaly Helmet for Luke

About a week ago, our 6 month old son Luke, was diagnosed with Plagiocephaly. Plagiocephaly is a condition characterized by an asymmetrical distortion (flattening of one side) of the skull, or also known as flat head syndrome. With this, infants are known to wear helmets to help correct this issue. Unfortunately for us, it is not covered by our insurance and the cost for the one helmet alone is around $2200 and our doctor has told us that we will need two different helmets. Which will cost us $4400. Which Luke will have to wear over 3 - 4 months.
For an infants head, less than 6mm is within normal limits and our son's case is at 18mm, which is considered a servere case. There are things that we have been trying on our own such as repositioning with tummy time or holding him, and we have seen some improvement, but in his case, he also suffers from a tight neck known as torticollis which is causing his neck to contract or tighten and lean to one side.
What happens if he doesnt wear a helmet? Well, some infants with plagiocephaly may have other associated problems such as a high risk for learning delays and developmental delay, increased need for special services when he reaches school age, orthodontic and TMJ issues, Scoliosis, visual disturbances incuding visual defects and astigmatism and auditory problems.
I fear with each passing week without the helmet and physical therapy, his condition may be getting worse and he could suffer in the future. With that being said, we are asking you, our friends, for help to cover the cost of the helmet so that our son could live a normal life. We thank you in advance for your help, prayers and support.
