The goal of The Basket Project is to provide baskets filled with resources to help the homeless and vulnerable in Toronto during the pandemic.
The homeless in Toronto have continued to suffer throughout the past year with freezing temperatures in the winter and scorching heat over the past month, all while the stress and anxiety of a widespread, deadly pandemic being prevalent. The homeless members of our community have little to no access to bathrooms as they have been closed, which is crucial as one of the main ways of preventing COVID is hand washing. Moreover, basic items we take for granted such as water and masks are slim to none.
The goal of The Basket Project is to provide relief baskets with basic, human necessities to protect the segments of vulnerable communities that are the most exposed, yet have the least access to items to protect themselves.
A donation of 10 dollars will provide one homeless person with a basket including: 2 medical masks, a bottle of hand sanitizer, 1 bottle of toothpaste, 1 tooth brush, and 1 stick of deodorant! Donations of these items as well as others are very much appreciated. Each basket also includes a hand written note of encouragement!
Our goal is to do our part as a community to support and uplift the members of society that don’t have access to basic human necessities during a widespread pandemic. We are all in this together, and the Basket Project is making it our personal goal to provide as much protection and assistance as we can to vulnerable members of our community.
