Hi friends and family, my name is Jennifer, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for my family. We’ve had an incredibly difficult year, and despite all of us working hard, we are now at risk of losing our home and everything else we have worked so hard for.
Just a year ago, my children and I were so excited to finally move into a place of our own together. It was a fresh start and a chance to build stability for our family. Unfortunately, shortly after that, life threw us one challenge after another. Last November, I was in a car accident that left me with medical bills and setbacks. With damage to my back, I was not able to work as much for a few weeks, but knowing that I had a family to provide for, I got back as soon as possible. As most of you know, my 18-year-old son Ryan is a type one diabetic. He had an accident with his pump in May which sent him into diabetic ketoacidosis, nearly killing him. After an expensive ambulance ride and hospital stay, he was stabilized, but also low on money. My 21-year-old daughter, Madelyn, was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease last year which has thrown her world upside down. She works as much as she can, but after procedures, testing, and hospitalizations, she is left in severe medical debt.
I never wanted to come on and ask for a “handout.” As a single mom, I have been independent my whole life and have always done the work to make ends meet for my kids and I. I am putting every ounce of pride aside and fighting back my embarrassment to ask our incredible village for help. I know what God has done for us in the past and will continue to do.
All three of us work and do everything we can to keep up, but with the medical expenses and unexpected hardships, we’ve fallen behind and are struggling to get back on our feet. We are behind on every bill, on the brink of losing the house we prayed for. I also lost my car to a repo and after getting it back, we need to stay on our payments to ensure we can get to and from work.
We are asking for help to bridge the gap and give us the chance to catch up and move forward. Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward saving our home and keeping us together under one roof. If you can’t donate, simply sharing our story would mean so much to us. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading and for supporting my family during this time.
