Support Rob’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On June 1st, my dad—Robert, or “Rob” to most—suffered an unexpected and life-changing stroke. While we’re incredibly grateful that he retained full memory and most cognitive function, the stroke has left him immobilized on his left side.
After spending 11 days in the hospital, he has since been transferred to a nursing facility, where he’s continuing the long and difficult road to recovery. Despite the challenges ahead, he remains motivated and determined to regain his independence.
Rob is a 76-year-old Vietnam veteran who served proudly as a medical technician in the U.S. Army in 1968.
Despite his age, he has remained incredibly active—physically strong, endlessly creative, and always working with his hands. Just one day before his stroke, he was out helping a close friend build their big dream fence. In his free time, he’s often found creating large-scale art projects, welding, designing and building raised garden beds, landscaping, or walking miles with the dogs.
To know my dad is to love him. He’s witty, hilarious, loving, supportive, a bit of a smartass, and always the first to lend a hand. He’s a devoted partner, father of four daughters, and grandfather to eleven grandchildren.
His passion is bringing ideas to life. He has built dreams for people—houses, yards, ponds, fences—you name it. Whatever someone imagined, he found a way to make it real. Whether it was creating beauty through art or function through construction, he always showed up ready to build anything anyone could ever want or desire.
This medical crisis has turned our world upside down. My mom has not left his side—she has dropped everything to spend 12+ hours a day in the hospital and nursing facility with him, supporting him through each step of recovery. As he transitions into rehabilitation, they are faced with mounting expenses: hospital bills, nursing care, medical equipment, transportation, meals, everyday household needs, and the list goes on.
It’s not easy to ask for help—but this is one of those moments where we truly need our community. Any donation, no matter how small, would make a meaningful difference in easing the financial burden on my dad. Your generosity will help cover expenses to ensure that Rob is worry-free while he receives the best care possible and he works hard to regain his independence.
We are so deeply grateful for your love, support, and prayers. Please feel free to share this with anyone who knows and loves Rob, or those who may be moved to share a memory or story of him to give him a chuckle. :)
With heartfelt thanks,
Michelle
