Yvonne's Justice Mission
Donation protected
I am a member of the Lawyers Christian Fellowship (LCF) who in partnership with CLEAR (Christian Lawyers in East Africa) provide legal projects that provide legal services to the poor and marginalised communities, regardless of their background, or religious belief by informing them of their basic legal rights and offering free advice and representation to those who have no means to pay for it. Twice a year the LCF facilitate justice mission trips to East African, sending a team of lawyers to support CLEAR.
I will be part of this years team. I am seeking to raise funds to help out with the costs for this trip. I will be travelling to Rwanda and Uganda from the 30th September to 16th October 2016. We will visit schools to educate children on their rights under the UN Convention and to empower them to report child protection issues to the authorities, educate women about their property rights, provide training for lawyers, and train prisoners on how to do self-representation. In Uganda remand prisonser are known to be on remand for many years before having a court hearing.
This is such a great opportunity to put in to action to 'love thy neighbour'; and to be involved with the collaborative legal project run by CLEAR has a tangible impact in peoples lives; and hopefully can inspire a new generation of paralegals and lawyers.
The trip is the end of September and I am trying to raise funds to cover flights, visas, accomodation, food, immunisations and adminstrative fees for the trip.
