On the 8th May 2021, the Smithfield’s team lost not only a manager but a friend, a father figure and a role model. Staff, both past and present are heartbroken and shocked at his sudden death and wish to support his family by raising money.
The Smithfields team have some great memories with Alex, shifts would always be full of laughter from his inappropriate jokes to him singing random classic tune in the middle of a tea time rush, he always knew how to put a smile on our faces.
Each year Alex and Kyri would take the Smithfields team on a staff trip, each year the staff knew this would be a fun filled day. Alex loved each trip and would count down the days in the run up, but any trip involving a theme park would alway be his favourite! Unfortunately last year we missed our trip, however the team are super happy the last trip previous was to Alton Tower, which he loved! He would also mention the trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach all the time, as that was another one of his favourites!
The staff (past and present) want to do something to support our second family at this difficult time. We will all be running 5k around Wellington on Sunday 22nd August 2021 to raise money for the Severn Hospice in Telford.
Please donate and support the team and the family after the passing of Alex.
Alex, your face in Smithfields will be missed, but there will not be a day when we do not mention or think of you. We are going to support Kyri, Eleni and Stef and the children as much as we can to make sure Smithfields continues to strive and is able to support your family.
Rest in Peace Alex, we will miss you
