Surviving multiple family crisis

Donation protected
9/25/2013 - My StepMom (73) passed away from cancer. Her death was a huge loss to the family and my Dad was left all alone.

6/12/2015 - My Dad (73) permanently laid off from his job and in financial distress.

1/01/2015 - I moved into my Dad’s house in an effort to help keep him from losing his home.

8/04/2015 - My StepDad (83) underwent a full knee replacement and was hospitalized for 2 weeks before being allowed to go home on 8/18/2015.

8/18/2015 - My StepDad returned home just as my Mom goes in for back surgery.

8/18/2015 - My Mom (71) underwent spinal surgery repairing a broken vertebrae caused by stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized throughout her bones. She was originally diagnosed with breast cancer over 12 years ago and was thought to be cancer free until her back began to hurt and not heal.

8/31/2015 - After my work schedule was changed without warning and their unwillingness to assist me, I was forced to quit my job so that I could spend time with my Mom in the hospital. Due to complications after surgery, my Mom was hospitalized for 4 weeks until 9/12/2015.

While still in the hospital, My Mom’s wish was to travel with my StepDad to Mississippi to visit her grandchildren. I told her that I would make sure that this happened even if I had to drive them myself.

3/30/2016 - My Dad is diagnosed with mid-stage dementia.

5/10/2016 - My Mom and StepDad were both well enough to travel to Mississippi and had a great trip.

5/15/2016 - After my Mom and StepDad returned from their trip, my focus was now on finding a job.

6/22/2016 - My Dad is tested again and his Dementia is progressing rapidly. It is clear there is no way for him to stay in his home. He requires full time care that I will not be able to provide.

7/08/2016 - Began the process of helping my Dad sell his home and move him into Assisted Living. I will be attempting to help him liquefy all of his assets so that he will have enough money to support himself.

Upcoming...

8/29/2016 – My StepDad is scheduled to undergo 1st of 2 full hip replacements. Followed 2 months later on 2nd hip.

All of this has resulted in me being unemployed for almost 1 year. My savings is gone and I have accumulated over $16,000 in credit card debt. I am actively seeking employment but am also burdened with the sale of the home, vehicles, & organizing an estate sale while still caring for my Dad and relocating him into Assisted Living. The sale of the home will also result in me being homeless.

Without immediate help, we will not be able to cover rent and mortgage payments and will lose the home. Money will be used for the sole purpose of keeping the rent and basic utilities paid long enough to accomplish the home sale and my Dad’s relocation.

I am not asking for help to pay my debts, after all, they are my debts. I am only hoping for enough support in order to stay afloat long enough to handle my Dad’s affairs and get back onto my feet. This past year has been extremely difficult on me and needing to ask for help makes it that much more difficult.

Thanks everyone for reading my story. I greatly appreciate your time and assistance. Best wishes to all!
