"Finding Our Roots" is a first time project of the Garrett family to document our ancestral heritage. In 2017 the descendents of Thomas Garrett (b. 1844) and Mason  Garrett (b. 1851) will gather in Silver Spring, MD and Washington, DC for educational workshops and a tour of historical sites related to African American history. Over 50 of our children will attend workshops, learn from local historians, and develop a short presentation for the family dinner.  We need at least two buses (with wheelchair access for our seniors) to transport family members to and from the conference site.  The estimated cost is $2000 for a one day rental.

Help us give our children "roots and wings" so they can go forth in the world with the knowledge of who they are and where their people came from to get here!
