Community Food Garden

Donation protected
Fresh, Local and Free

2020 has been a year of ups and downs for all of us. Many communities in Ottawa and the surrounding area are struggling due to job loss or instability, loss of social programming and increasing food costs. Here at Pick, Plant & Prune we want to help out as much as we can. We thought we could put our knowledge of gardening to good use by developing a 100' x 100' vegetable plot for local food charities.

We are raising funds to build this vegetable garden in spring 2021 to bring fresh vegetables and produce to communities hardest hit. The money raised will go towards buying soil and seeds, and making all the supports needed for the plants. We would also love to be able to set up some simple rain fed irrigation for certain areas of the plot.

Pick Plant & Prune will be matching the first $1000 in donations.

Our goals include:

- Support the communities that have been hit the hardest during the pandemic
- Increase access to fresh local produce for local food charities
- By using local teen volunteers and community groups we hope to make the money donated stretch as far as possible and teach garden skills to the community

In time we would love to develop garden workshops in this space for anyone who wants to learn to grow their own food.

Anyone looking to be involved more is welcome to contact.
