Hello, I’m reaching out on behalf of my sister, Misty and her children, this holiday season, I want to share her incredible journey and the immense challenges she’s overcome.
Misty is a single mother of five who has faced unimaginable hardships. After escaping a devastating domestic violence situation—one in which almost took her life and that of her unborn baby (now known as Indy) and had to be rescued by a hostage team—Misty has shown incredible strength and resilience. Even after escaping, she continues to live with the lasting effects of severe PTSD, panic attacks and anxiety which impacts her daily life in profound ways.
After leaving the domestic violence situation, Misty faced periods of homelessness, short-term housing, and unstable living conditions, including living in hotels and a caravan with her children. Despite these immense challenges, she has finally found stable housing where her kids have settled in a community they love, with schools and a supportive network. It would be absolutely heartbreaking to lose this stability after finally setting down roots and building a life for her family.
Now, alongside these struggles, Misty must also navigate a devastating health diagnosis of congestive heart failure, which leaves her with only 40% heart function. She is forced to choose between paying rent and affording life-saving medical care, including essential scans, specialist visits, and medications. No one should ever have to make such a difficult choice.
In addition to these struggles, Misty also needs to seek legal advice to finalize her will, ensuring that her children are cared for if the worst should happen. This is a heartbreaking reality that no parent should ever face, and it underscores the immense weight on her shoulders.
With Christmas approaching, our hope is to give Misty and her children a magical holiday and to lift the burden of these difficult choices. By supporting her, we can help her focus on healing and making precious memories with her kids, rather than being consumed by worry.
Any monies raised would go to help her with.
- Medications (in excess of 200 a month)
- Specialist visits ($380)
- Scans ($400 + )
- Rent arrears
- Outstanding bills and loans
- Christmas for her children
- Legal support
Don’t make Misty have to choose between putting a roof over her children’s head and lifesaving medical treatment this Christmas.
Misty has shown incredible resilience in her journey -overcoming domestic violence, battling ongoing mental health effects, and now facing a challenging health diagnosis. With your kindness and support, we can provide her and her children the stability and peace they deserve.
