Diana's Medical Healing Fund

My name is Karen Williams, and I have a wonderful neighbor named Diana Erickson who is a heartfelt, loving, gentle soul who has given to many, and now it is important for her to give to herself. Not only is she incredible painter, artist, plant lover and nature enthusiast with a zest for life, she has devoted many hours of her adult life to design and painting of sets for local Eldorado County community theaters. She is a 56-year-old mother of two daughters who are each 21, one biological daughter and one adopted from Russia at the age of 7. Diana and her husband have lived in El Dorado County for 36 years. She has recently retired early from her job as a Landscape Architect with the Eldorado National Forest due to a recurrence of cancer. With this in view, I am asking you to consider supporting her in this journey of healing. Following is her story.

After surgery, chemo and radiation for breast cancer in 2006, the cancer was in remission for ten years. But last year she began having intense nerve pain in her left arm, and learned that new tumors had developed in her neck. Diana has been going through three different chemotherapy drugs over the last seven months, with no improvement. Then a genomic test of her blood cells indicated treatment with alternative chemotherapy drugs that are expected to be much more effective. This treatment is only offered by Century Wellness in Reno, Nevada. It combines low dose insulin potentiated chemotherapy with the drugs identified by the genomic testing, together with additional treatment to build up her immune system. The tests on her cells showed this protocol would have an effectiveness rate of 82%, as opposed to the 20% effectiveness of the drugs offered by UC Davis and covered by insurance. The portion of the cost of treatment that is not covered by medical insurance is approximately $38,000. Donations will be used to offset the cost of the cancer treatment.

So, here is what I know for sure, after all I have studied and the work I have done over the last 15 years. We are not just a physical being. We are emotional, spiritual, mental and we have form. In order to be disease free we need to address all systems. It’s unfortunate that the health care industry has yet to recognize that healing the entire system is the answer. Because the parts are in the whole and the whole is in the parts, everthing is connected. So rather than give up and let the current systems limitations and failings dictate Diana’s success in healing, she has made the bold and brave decision to pursue alterative oncology treatment. I am so proud of her and honored to support her in this journey of healing. She is one of the bravest women I know, and has so much grace and patience while enduring tremendous 24-hour pain and dysfunction of her entire left arm and hand. Not to mention the tremendous side effects of the many rounds of oral and infused chemo over the last 7 months. I consider it an honor to support Diana in this journey of healing and I am asking you to also support this wonderful woman who has so much life and determination and desire to live.

Please remember how abundant and blessed we all are, and donate today so that no more stress will be added to this great soul by incurring tremendous medical debt.

Thank you so much.
