Alex is a triplet who was born 10 weeks early. She and her sisters thrived coming out of the NICU, but Alex has had many health issues since then. She has been to the Emergency Room several times a year for respiratory distress, chronic ear infections and now vision problems stemming from how premature she was.
Now she is starting to go blind on one eye due to a muscular issue behind her right eye. After trying glasses and eye patch therapy tell doctor is telling us that her brain will eventually completely shut down her eye without a surgery to correct the muscle problem. Because of her age and size this will take 2 to 3 surgeries to correct. While she has insurance, our out of pocket is $14,000, and $6,000 of that is to be paid before insurance pays a dime. Her first surgery was scheduled for August 12th 2016, where she had the surgery done on both eyes. She now has ongoing appointments to check the correction of both her eyes to see when they can schedule the next surgery.
We are so grateful and blessed to have the wonderful friends and family we have and are very thankful for any help she can get.
