Growing up here in Detroit, MI. I’ve witnessed my government abandon and neglect my people. I can remember people crying at city council meetings because they needed help while our city said their hands are tied. I watched as they defunded our education systems and went bankrupt trying to build new prisons. My old neighbor is just a shell of what it was. Do not let the media lie to you. The eastside was just like any other city yes, but we had beautiful parks, after school programs, kid clubs and many other things to keep our kids off the streets. All of that is gone now, and the problem is, the people is still here! Some of them are locked up, some are dead now and only a handful have somewhat survived through this madness. Sometimes when I look around I just wanna cry from this rage I have. Because I know things can be better. What I had wrong is I was asking the American government for help. They have been trying to get black people out of Detroit since the riots. They’re still knocking down houses and making it close to impossible for a black person to buy the land. That was my mistake and trust me, it will NEVER happen again. I know the only way we can help each other is through each other! I know this won’t really change the conditions that people are living in but it help the ones in need get just a little weight off their backs and let them know it is people out there that want the best for you! I’m not asking for a vote! I just want to see my people happy! If you can, please give what you can! If you want things to change, change them. Together we can and WILL! Thank you all so much! Hope to see you there!
