Support for Joel Brophy

Many of you have already heard, but for those that haven’t, my nephew Joel was rushed by ambulance to the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, NS, earlier this week. Once there they realized he was in critical condition and barely able to breath.  After a cat scan they found a large mass in his chest that had almost completely blocked his airway and wrapped itself around the blood vessels surroundings his heart.  He was then airlifted to the ICU at the Halifax Infirmary, where a team of specialists awaited him. They quickly went to work and were able to get him breathing on his own, with help of a little oxygen. 

A biopsy was done and he has been diagnosed with lymphoma. It is fairly aggressive and they have started treatment today. Joel is very optimistic and ready to fight this. He is young, strong and tough as nailsand we know he will beat it. He said he has been dealt a bad hand but he’s going to play the crap out of it.  

The purpose of this fundraiser is to be able to help Joel and Cadence with their finances. While money can’t fix this situation, it can alleviate some of their stress andallow them to focus on his recovery. And he has a long road ahead of him.
