Help Us Rebuild After a Year of Hardship

Hi, my name is Jessica Newell, and I never thought I'd be in the position of asking for help like this — but here I am, doing it for my family.

This past year has been the most difficult time of our lives. Despite working hard, going to school, and doing everything "right," we’ve found ourselves homeless and struggling to get back on our feet.

My husband was laid off three times in the past year — each job loss more devastating than the last. These weren’t just part-time gigs; they were full-time positions we depended on to survive. Each time, we were left scrambling to cover rent, bills, and basic needs. We’ve sold everything we could, cut back everywhere possible, and still, we ended up without a stable place to live.

Meanwhile, I’ve been juggling work, attending school, and being my son's learning coach through OHVA hoping to build a better future for us. But no matter how many hours I work, it's still not enough to pull us out of this hole. It’s exhausting, physically and emotionally, to fight so hard and feel like you’re still sinking.

We’re not lazy. We’re not careless. We’re just a small family hit hard by a storm of bad luck and rising costs. We’re asking for help because we’re out of options.
