Community Service Trip to the DR

As some may know, I've had a rough start to the beginning of this year and I think it's time for me to do some real soul searching. I've always loved to travel and take on new experiences. But I've also always had the passion of helping others. I feel that through philanthropy, I am able to better the lives of others while they really impact and better my life more than I do for them.
     I have found a trip through Rustic Pathways on which I can experience a new place and indulge myself in projects to help the local community. I would be traveling to the Dominican Republic and participating in environmental and infrastructure based community service. Also, a huge part of this program is interacting with the local children. We will be able to get to know the youth around the community and get our hands dirty right along side of them. Every evening, we spend 2 hours with the local children helping them with their English while they teach us some basic Spanish.
     Exposing myself to a new culture and diversifying my understanding of this world has always been something extremely important to me and I hope I am able to enjoy this experience. I have attatched the link which explains the trip in further detail and even provides an itinerary explaining how the days will be spent. There are 3 full days of community service while the other days have less service and some time for exploring. However, at least 2 hours of each day are taken up with the local children.
