29 Diner’s Employee’s Christmas Fund
Thank you for visiting our gofundme site to benefit the employees of the 29 Diner. As you may know, the Diner experienced a kitchen fire on November 23, 2021. The good news is that the property is insured and will be renovated. The not-so-good news is that almost all of 29 Diner‘s employees will go without wages and tips from serving you. So we’ve established this page to help soften their challenges.
Our beloved Fairfax County eatery, landmark, and social fixture has been slinging omelets, and sliding hot coffees with free refills to smiling faces sitting at the bar or hanging out at their table since July 20, 1947.
29 Diner has been a benevolent force for decades, serving and giving back to the public with its own fundraisers and meals program. This time, it’s our turn to give to 29 Diner.
I’m Nichole, just a regular person like you. I LOVE 29 Diner and I’m volunteering as a fundraising coordinator on behalf of John K. Wood, who is 29 Diner’s owner. While there may be other fundraisers out there, my intention is to benefit the servers, cooks, host team, runners, and bussers. We are all heading into the holiday season, and these wonderful people have lost their source of income. Many are already on hard times, living in DV shelters or similar arrangements. If you love diners, if you love this diner in particular and if you love people, please consider making a donation. The easiest way is to pretend you’re going to eat there… here’s a menu of how you can donate:

- Mushroom & Swiss burger ($12), an iced tea ($3) and a milkshake ($6): $21.
- Double BLT ($13), a cold Pepsi ($3) and sub out the fries for onion rings ($1 extra): $17.
- 3 eggs traditional breakfast ($11), a cup of dirty water ☕️ ($3) and a small OJ ($3): $17.

Every cup ☕️ of coffee you “buy” improves a staffer’s life. Plus, you are reminded that especially in these mixed up days, love is still running hot and strong.
