For Shannon Donnelly, in memory of Justin Smith

Hello everyone,
On December 8, 2020 our friend, our family member, Justin Lee “Pooder” Smith tragically and unexpectedly passed away. Justin is survived by his partner of 12 years, Shannon Donnelly; daughters, Sloane and Sylvie Smith; Parents Jeanette and James Smith, Sr.; sister, Michaela Smith and companion, Samson Harrell, of Rockingham; brother, James Smith, Jr., and wife, Heather, of Broadway; four nephews and three nieces.
Justin was truly a one of a kind man. This sort of thing gets said often, but I can assure you, as can anyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him, that this particular sentiment rings with absolute truth and certainty. Justin was always quick with a joke or one of his patented “Pooterisms”. He was one of the greatest story tellers I’ve ever known, and maybe the only man to ever choose to roof a house with bare feet.
Justin was also a loving family man. His adoration for his parents, his grandparents, his siblings, and all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and everyone in between knew no bounds. He also had a deep and limitless love for his partner, his companion, Shannon and their two daughters Sloane and Sylvie. Shannon and Justin met as kids and grew together into adulthood and parenthood. His bond with his daughters was, is, and will remain truly special. Shannon, Sloane, and Sylvie provide the reasoning for the formulation of this campaign.
With Justin’s sudden passing, Shannon has found herself with the sole responsibility of providing for their two beautiful girls while also attempting to navigate unimaginable heartbreak. The purpose of this campaign is to help ease the transition for Shannon and the girls into this new, uncharted phase of their lives together. It will forever be difficult, there is no replacing the deep well of knowledge, skill, humor, and energy that Justin brought to their lives. But we, as a network, as a community of people that love Justin, Shannon, Sloane and Sylvie, have the ability to rally around them and lift them up in other ways during this dark time.
