Help Rebuild Kampung Yaru Wora, Sumba Island — The Village That Built Alamayah
Today, a devastating fire swept through Kampung Yaru Wora in Sumba, destroying 28 houses in just 48 minutes. In less than an hour, families lost everything — their homes, belongings, food supplies, tools, and 10’s of generations of history. 100’s of people now stand with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
This tragedy hits deeply. Kampung Yaru Wora is the village that built Alamayah. Many of our team were born and raised here. It is also the village that has welcomed almost every Alamayah guest over the years — including visits to Lexi’s house, a home that has opened its doors and educated countless of guests seeking a true connection to Sumbanese culture. That home, along with many others, is now gone.
From Alamayah, we are launching this fundraiser as a way to give back to the village that has given to us for years — with their hands, their hearts, their stories, and their unwavering generosity.
