Raising money to buy care packages for the homeless. California and New York have the highest rates of homelessness throughout the United States, according to the National Alliance to End Homelessness. In California, for every 10,000 people, 38 are homeless; in New York, for every 10,000 people, the number jumps to 47. Unfortunately, two largest populations affected are children and veterans. According to The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), of all homeless, 23% are children under the age of 18 and nearly 12% are veterans. We cannot possibly fathom what drove all these people to live on the street, but we can contribute and share what we can during this trying time.
