On October 11th, I’ll be running the Chester Marathon to raise money for The Florrie - a charity that plays a vital role in the heart of Liverpool 8 and the wider community.
The Florrie is so much more than a historic building. It’s a place where people can connect, make friends, learn new skills, get active, be creative and, most importantly, feel part of their community.
Through music, arts, culture, youth work, wellbeing activities, community groups and events, The Florrie supports people of all ages and backgrounds. It also provides practical help and support, including services such as the Florrie Food Pantry to help prevent food poverty, while helping to tackle social isolation and loneliness.
I’m a member of The Florrie Guitar Group and regularly attend other events there, so I’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes. I’ve experienced that sense of community myself and seen how important The Florrie is to the people who use it.
For many people, it provides a reason to get out of the house, meet new people, try something new and feel connected. It gives people opportunities they might not otherwise have and provides a welcoming place where everyone can take part.
The Florrie relies on fundraising and donations to continue this work. So, by taking on the Chester Marathon, I’m hoping to raise as much as I can to help keep these opportunities available and support The Florrie in continuing to make a real difference to people’s lives.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. If you’re able to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would mean a lot too.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
