I’m taking on Manchester marathon to raise money for Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust, a charity that means the world to my family.
When my son was born, he was diagnosed with Hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE), a serious condition caused by a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain around the time of birth. Those first days were some of the most frightening and uncertain moments of our lives. The care, expertise and support we received from the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust and the neonatal team helped give our son the best possible start when he needed it most.
Thanks to their incredible work, our little boy is now nearly two years old and doing great. We know how fortunate we are, and we will always be grateful for the care that helped him get here.
That’s why I’m running this marathon — to give something back and help other families going through those same terrifying early days with their newborns.
The money raised will help the Oliver Fisher Special Care Baby Trust continue to support babies who need specialist neonatal care and the families who stand beside them. Donations help fund vital equipment, improve facilities on the neonatal unit, and provide support that goes beyond what standard hospital funding can offer — making a huge difference to the care these tiny patients receive.
If you’re able to donate or share this page, it would mean a lot to me and my family. Every contribution helps support babies who need the very best start in life.
Thank you for your support ❤️
