Clean drinking water project

Joeboentoe is a non-profit NGO from the Netherlands. We host volunteers and start sustainable social projects; our first project was a plastic recycling project in Masaka it has become a big success (more than 500.000 kilos of plastic removed from the environment).

Right now, we can use your help with a simple water harvesting project. Every dry season (twice a year), most of the people in our village find themselves without proper drinking water. It means they collect water from a stream they share with cows and goats, meaning it has polluted water that is making many people sick. There have been multiple cases of typhoid in young children and this is something we want to be of the past.

This is the central watering hole the locals and the livestock use.

Our local church has a big roof we can use to collect water and it is in a great location to distribute the water. We buy a 10,000-litre water tank, rain gutters, pipes and we work together with the local plumber to install it. Then in the dry season, the people from the village can collect a jerrycan of clean drinking water.

When this project is a success, we want to expand it to other villages because the problem with drinking water is sadly a very common issue in remote Uganda.
