Hi! I'm Deana Becker, newly elected At-Large Delegate for Bernie Sanders in California's Congressional District 37. Now that I've won the election, all I have to do is get to Pilladelphia for the DNC. Most people don't know this, but delegates are responsible for ALL costs associated with attending the DNC. This includes airfare, hotels, food, ground transportation and anything esle that can come up on a trip. In addition to my own airfare, I will need to buy a ticket for my son. Since he is a minor and is autistic, I am unable to leave him in California. My plan is to have family and friends on the East coast care for him, while I'm attending the convention.
Why am I supporting Bernie Sanders?
I'm a single parent, who has struggled with raising a disabled child. Healthcare and education are extremely important to me as a parent and as a recent college graduate. With everything I already have on my plate, I now have student loan debt that I need to pay off. A college education is a necessity in our ever changing, world economy. Bernie knows this, which is why he believes ALL Americans have a right to a quality education. I have also lived in the Socialist Democracy of Denmark, so I am well aware of how Bernie's ideas will benefit our country. Our system of capitalism has mainly benefited the 1%, due to unfair tax laws and loopholes. Bernie, with OUR help, will change them so that we ALL have a decent foundation upon which to build bright futures for ourselves, our families and our country.
I would like to raise the funds by July 1, 2016, in order to have time to purchase flights and book rooms.
