In loving support

I wish I could be writing about a celebration of John Erickson's retirement; however, such is the unforgiving nature of life. It’s not fair that Holly and Shaun have lost a wonderful, loving husband and dad way too soon. As we share in their sorrow, our hearts go out to them.

John was an accomplished metrologist with over 30 years of dedicated service at FN America, LLC. He was not only an exceptional colleague but also a friend to all who knew him. John was a big fan of vintage Volkswagen buses and loved everything about the Grateful Dead. Surprisingly, beneath this gifted but reserved mathematician/engineer was a deadhead with a hippie spirit. After his son Shaun was born, the conversation shifted from Volkswagen buses and the Grateful Dead to discussions about Shaun's most recent adventures. John was delighted by the opportunity to be a father.

Receiving the diagnosis of stage IV pancreatic cancer in December 2023 was devastating for John and his family. By the time the cancer was detected, it had unfortunately metastasized throughout his body, rendering him unsuitable for chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or surgical intervention. Upon discharge, the hospital informed John of his terminal prognosis and provided a life expectancy of three to six months. John's diagnosis and rapid health decline rendered him unable to work. Unfortunately, John succumbed to his illness and passed away on 2/21/2024, just two months after his diagnosis. As a result, his family has experienced significant financial and emotional hardship because he was the sole financial provider for his wife and child, and the escalating out-of-pocket expenses have exceeded the family's financial means.

Now, as his family confronts the formidable challenge of carrying on without John, we have an opportunity to support him in death by offering support to his family. Funeral expenses can be overwhelming, and we can help ease the burden for John’s family during this trying time. Your generosity can provide much-needed financial assistance for his family, as well as any additional support they may require on their healing journey.

Collectively, let's demonstrate to John’s family the same unwavering dedication, care, and support he has shown to many throughout his career.
