Thank you for taking the time to look at my fundraising page. As you probably already know, I will be spending 3 months in Nepal starting this September in order to volunteer my time and physical therapy skills to those who are in the most need of them.
I will be volunteering with Projects Abroad. Projects Abroad was founded in 1992 and is currently serving in 27 countries worldwide. They are members of the IVPA (International Volunteer Programs Association) and believe in creating and working with sustainable projects that foster development in communities abroad. They are an entirely independent organization that does not receive money from government funding, religious bodies, political parties, developmental organizations or external sources. They never request money from partner organizations in the developing world in order to maximize the benefit of hosting volunteers. Projects Abroad and their work is 100% funded through our contributions.
Though I will not receive my exact placement details until July or August, I know I will be living with a host family in Kathmandu and working in a local hospital, most likely with children who suffer from tropical diseases, congenital and birth defects, and/or who have been in accidents causing severe injuries. Any money I raise will go towards the program costs which are explained below.
Apart from the cost of the project itself, there are other financial aspects including airfare to and from Kathmandu, visas, and inoculations. My target is $8,000. This would cover all of the above mentioned costs for my time in Nepal. As I have stated before, I plan to contribute a significant portion of my own funds to pursue this endeavor, but am also relying on your support!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about this process and thank you again for your support!
