Volunteer Healthcare Project

As some of you know I graduated Cabrini College with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. I am extremely passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and promoting others to as well. For the past 6 years I've worked with children and find my job very rewarding.
I recently was given the opportunity to travel to and live in Phang Nga, Thailand for a few weeks volunteering with children in a health care program.
During my stay in Thailand, I will be living a very basic lifestyle with other volunteers in dormitory style housing on the base. I will be teaching basic health education and workshops to local schools in Ban Nem Khem. I will be providing them with sports classes to help promote a healthy life style. Topics I will teach will include nutrition, obesity, hygiene, and exercise. I will also be volunteering at the Camillian Social Centre (which is a centre for children with physical disabilities). There I will be assisting the staff with physiotherapy exercises to promote mobility and functional ability of the children. I will be assisting children living with disabilities to perform rehabilitative exercise to support their physical and social development and well being.
Although this is a great opportunity, it does not come without expense. The program itself costs approximately $2,000, excluding the flight for me to get to Thailand. This specific experience is very significant to me because, after careful research I've learned that in Thailand, the infrastructure, funding, and resources for the disabled are tremendously limited. More importantly I genuinely care about helping children live healthier lives. I ask that you would consider donating so that I may accomplish my dream of traveling to Thailand to assist these children with the care they need! I would sincerely appreciate it and be forever grateful for any donations. Please feel free to also send emotional support, advice, and positive energy for a journey like this!
Thanks for reading and considering making a donation! I really apperciate it!
