24hrs 1300 pull ups to support local food banks.

Hi, I’m Lewis Thorburn and I’m on a mission to make a difference, one pull-up at a time.

On 30th July, I’ll be attempting 1,300 pull-ups in 24 hours to raise money for local food banks starting at 08:30 at Morrisons in Beverley until they close, then continuing at the Defence School of Transport gym from 22:30 until the 0830 the following morning.

1300 was also how much I raised last year flipping a 100kg military truck tyre from DST Leconfield to Morrisons Beverley Store over 10km!

This challenge is more than just physical endurance, it’s about standing up for people who are quietly struggling to put food on the table. Food banks are seeing more demand than ever, and I want to do something real to help meet that need.

As someone who believes in serving both my community and my country, I’ve always tried to lead by example. Whether it’s through my role supporting wellbeing and inclusion in the military or organising events for veterans, I’ve seen firsthand how small actions can create lasting impact. This time, I’m putting my body on the line to raise awareness and funds for something that affects thousands of families across the UK.

Every penny raised will go directly to local food banks helping provide essential meals, dignity, and support to those facing tough times.

Now here’s the twist and a challenge for you. Donate more pounds than I can do pull-ups.
