24hr national 3 peaks in memory of Melanie
Donation protected
On September 6th, I will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in under 24 hours. As part of this challenge, I will be carrying a 40kg weighted vest to increase the physical intensity. I will be joined by one other team member, Steven Smith, who has extensive experience with charity climbs, often under extremely challenging conditions. Additionally, I have a two-person support/driver team who are crucial to making this challenge possible.
You might be wondering, why am I doing this?
On May 16, 2024, my family’s world was shattered when my partner, Melanie, passed away after a five-year battle with breast cancer. Melanie and I were together for nearly 18 years, and we have a wonderful daughter, Niamh, who is now 13. Melanie also leaves behind her two older children, Sian and Kane, all of whom have experienced a profound and life-altering loss. This past year has been incredibly difficult, and each day presents new challenges.
In memory of Melanie and to support causes that meant so much to her, we have chosen two charities to raise funds for through this challenge.
The first is the Children's Bereavement Centre (Charity No. 1098935). Before Melanie passed, our daughter, Niamh, had already started supporting this charity by taking part in a swim marathon. Melanie had always hoped that Niamh would receive support from them one day, and this charity has already been a great source of help to us as a family. The work they do is invaluable, providing crucial support to children and families facing loss. This is a cause I’m passionate about, and I hope to raise funds to ensure they can continue their vital work.
The second charity is Coppafeel ( Charity No 113266), a breast cancer awareness charity. Melanie frequently spoke about this charity and its mission to promote early detection of breast cancer. Early detection is essential because it significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and recovery. Coppafeel’s work in spreading awareness and encouraging regular self-checks is something Melanie strongly supported.
I would be grateful for any support you can provide to these two incredible causes
The total raised will be split between the two charities equally.
