Marfan syndrome is a disorder of the body's connective tissues, a group of tissues that maintain the structure of the body and support internal organs and other tissues. Children usually inherit the disorder from one of their parents.
The mean life expectancy for untreated patients with Marfan syndrome is 32 years with aortic dissection, aortic rupture or cardiac failure due to mitral and aortic valve regurgitation as the predominant cause of death in > 90% of the cases.
I am raising money for Marfan Syndrome as it’s a disorder very close to home in that my nephew Jack has been diagnosed with it and his dad Dave Foster passed away as a result of undiagnosed Marfans and heart complications in 2018.
