24 hour tyre flip

Hi all Callum Howarth here , I have a short story to tell as to why I will be challenging my self both physically and mentally to flip a 80kg tyre for 24 hours straight on Thursday the 20th April…..

Since my Grandads diagnosis of dementia a few years back it has been a very touching ride to experience what he goes through on a daily basis

to try and bring some content into my mind with my grandads journey I want to raise as much funds and awareness on dementia around Blackpool as possible to help those and families experiencing dementia by supporting local charities

I have connected with two fantastic touching local charities in Blackpool what provide help and support for those and families experiencing dementia

The first one is Blackpool carers centre located on Newton drive 147 Blackpool FY3 8LZ who provide support for families who look after a loved one with life limiting illnesses such as dementia.

They can also offer practical and emotional support and this could be anything from looking at their benefits to ensure carers are getting what they are entitled to, helping them to fill out forms or linking in with other services that are available, it is all focused around each carers needs. My second charity is absolutely what I was looking for…A local church kitted out into a relaxing atmosphere where everybody is made to feel welcome.

The forget me not dementia cafe is located on Preston old road at the church opposite Stanley school

They provide a number of activities such as games and live music for family’s who are able to turn up and walk in to be made to feel very welcome…

Tea/coffee and cake is provided on arrival by a wonderful team of volunteers who turn out in all weathers to make sure that everyone has a brilliant time.

What’s not to love about a group of people living with dementia with their families and friends all enjoying themselves playing domino’s, flower arranging, cross words or just chatting with friends having a brew and eating cake. The forget me not dementia cafe also have a sanctuary garden where those can sit out and connect with nature during the summer months.
