Doug’s BIG Journey to help a Homeless Vets

Story

Hello everyone, I am fundraising for Homeless Men and Women Veterans of the Delaware Valley and for the American Legion Post in Audubon NJ. The Murray-Troutt American Legion Post 262 in Audubon is celebrating its 100th year of service to the Coumminity of Audubon, the State of New Jersey and our Nation. The American Legion was founded on 4 Pillars: Veteran Affairs and Rehibilatation, National Security, Americanism, and Children and Youth. Donations received will give them the opportunity to continue their mission at serving our veterans, their families, the youth of America and ordinary citizens. The post has worked with Volunteers of America Delaware Valley-Home of the Brave to help in the transition from the homeless shelter to permanent housing by providing a storage unit for donated furniture and house hold items. Once a veteran is moved from the homeless shelter into permanent housing, they are set up with furniture and needed household items. Your donation will give them the means to continue these efforts and secure a larger storage unit for additional items and create and purchase items as a "home starter" kit. For decades the post has been open to several volunteer groups in Audubon: The Bon Bons, Audubon Fathers Association and Audubon Ambulance to name a view. For the post to continue operation of this building, at the corner of Chestnut and E. Atlantic Ave in Audubon , your help is requested. Donations received will give me the ability to donate $$$ to the post as well so that they can continue to operate the building beyond our 100th year of service to the community, state and nation. Lastly, I believe in personal challenges. With that in mind, I am taking a personal challenge and will be walking with a weighed back pack from the New Jersey Department of the American Legion located in Trenton and walking to Audubon. I will then walk through Audubon until 101 miles are completed. This journey will start on Wednesday September 16th and end on Saturday the 19th. At the last mile, I will don a 101lb. back pack, walking with it to end my journey at the Murray-Troutt Post 262. This week is significant to the post because it leads into their 101st year of service. Please help me fulfill my mission by donating to this endeavor. All proceeds raised will go directly to the post and to VOA Del Valley Home of the Brave Thank you, Douglas W. Catts Commander of Post 262
