As some of you know, we’ve been friends of Nikita and Carl for the past 3 years when they first moved to Milwaukee. We met Carl and Nikita through Bradford Beach’s Volleyball League – they were subbing on our team…a team of people they’d never met just to help out. They walked right up to us, bubbly and full of life and it didn't take long for these “new friends” to become family.
The Manteau's are, to say the least, the most caring and selfless couple we've ever come to know. We can't count the number of times they've given up or changed their own plans to work around the schedules of others. They've helped us move (Melanie-in the middle of a snow storm), cooked us several "family" meals, shared their love of sports with us, opened their hearts and their home to anyone in need, and have dog/cat sat for at least 60% of the animals in Milwaukee, which is astounding since Carl is allergic…
Despite all of their selfless service to everyone in their lives, Nikita and Carl have been openly struggling to start a family of their own. Watching Nikita go through minor surgeries/procedures and many emotionally draining hormone treatments has been really difficult. The most disheartening by far, has been the revealing of one negative pregnancy test after another.
The chances of getting pregnant by way of in vitro are substantially greater than the outlets Nikita and Carl have already explored. While this is something they have wanted to do from the beginning of their pregnancy struggles, the cost of in vitro, ranging anywhere from $15,000- $25,000, is so much that only 5% of couples are actually able to seek this method. Although infertility is something that is able to be diagnosed, insurance does not view it as a "disease" and unfortunately, is not covered.
The two of us have decided to put this together to help cover the cost for the most deserving of couples. The amount of gratitude we owe them far exceeds the expense of this procedure and we'd love nothing more than for all of us to be able to help this beautiful couple welcome a child into their home, as they've welcomed all of us.

There are no words to truly thank Melanie Hoffman and Lindsey Johnson for starting this page for us. When being told the news by them Carl and I couldn't hold back our emotions. This act of kindness is one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever done for us. Love you guys and thank you!
Carl and I know that everyone has their own struggles and are doing what they need to do to make it through their own journeys. As such, now that we know about this campaign and it is public knowledge, we want all those that see this to please feel no obligation to donate. All we ask is for love, support and prayers during our quest to start a family. In going through this process we've heard a lot of stories of people we love going through similar situations, and some are truly heartbreaking. To everyone looking to make their dream of a family come true please know we are with you and support you. ❤️
To those that have donated, we couldn't be any more appreciative of the love and support that you and everyone on this campaign selfishly gave to us. We were truly touched when we heard about this page and a bit overwhelmed with emotion at the generosity and compassion of our friends and family. Our struggles to start a family are not something that we like to talk about publicly and the burdens it's placed on us emotionally, physically and financially are not something we would ever put on others. This being said, to know that those closest to us contributed to help ease our situation shows just how blessed we are to have such amazing people in our lives. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you.
