I’m starting this on behalf of my best friend and sister Jamila. I will try to explain this as shortly as I can. Jamila has been my sister and best friend since we were kids. We went through adolescence together and now we’re going through motherhood together. Unfortunately she lives in Las Vegas and I live in Los Angeles. Life has been cruel and unforgiving for both of us all our lives, but because my sister’s skin color, she has faced harder obstacles than I have. They live in a run down weekly/monthly infested with cockroaches, and are often scrounging to put food on the table. Jamila and her oldest son both have crippling asthma and since the outbreak, she hasn’t been able to work. Her husband works a minimum wage job that barely covers rent. Their rent is $350 a week, they can only afford $200 a week which puts them behind. Because it is classified as a hotel, they don’t have to adhere to regular renter’s rights and can be evicted within 24 hrs if they are late paying. This is a cycle they must get out of. They o my reason they haven’t moved is because they can never catch a break and save up. There is so much more to their story and I’d be happy to explain more, but I don’t want to make this too long. They need help. My nephew and nieces deserve a good home and my sister deserves the opportunity to be able to give it to them. She is a wonderful mother, but she NEEDS support. I’m begging the community to pull together and help them. Please help them get out of this situation and start a new chapter. They’ve been dealing with setbacks for years and they need a break. ❤️ ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER
