23 for Louis - 23k for 23 days

On the 10th of August, our beautiful son Louis came into the world at just 23 weeks and 3 days. He was so small, yet so incredibly strong.

Louis spent 23 precious days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin. In that time, he showed us the true meaning of courage. The doctors, nurses, and staff at the Coombe cared for Louis with such dedication and compassion — supporting us every step of the way through the hardest days of our lives.

Although Louis could not stay with us, his short life left a lasting mark of love. I want to honour him by giving back to the place that gave him (and us) so much.

That’s why I am taking on a challenge called “23 for Louis.”

Starting on November 11th, I will run 23 kilometres every day for 23 days, finishing on December 4th — Louis’ due date. It’s a tough challenge, but it’s nothing compared to what the babies and families in the NICU go through every single day.

All funds raised will go directly to Friends of the Coombe, a charity that supports the hospital, staff, and families with vital equipment, research, and care. Every donation, no matter the size, will help give tiny babies like Louis the very best chance at life.

We are so grateful for your support in helping us keep Louis’ memory alive, and in helping other babies and families who find themselves on this journey.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Ciarán & Hannah.
