Hello Everyone!

The Heimbecker cup is our annual charity hockey game that we host in honour of Joan Heimbecker. Joan was a beloved graduate student studying in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University. In 1994 Joan abruptly had her life taken from her as a result of domestic violence. Proceeds raised at this event will be used to support local women's shelters that offer a range of services and resources needed by women to start a new safe life for themselves and their children. Additionally, a $1000 bursary that was established in her name and is awarded to a graduate student who embodies the outgoing spirit and leadership qualities of Joan. Any donations would be immensely appreciated!

More information about Interval House of Hamilton: we are a shelter for women (and their families) who have experienced violence and abuse. We are the only shelter in Hamilton which is non-faith based, and the only shelter on the mountain. As well, we operate outreach programs through our Women's Centre.
