Hi, my name is Alicia and I am fundraising for my cousin Brad and his family. Brad’s 8 year old son has Nurofibrosis and scoliosis, and last year spent 3 months in hospital in traction prior to having major spinal surgery to straighten his spine. His stay was longer than expected and had to have the reminder of the year off school. This was obviously a very traumatic time for them all with Brad and his wife Rachel alternating time to be with their son in Sydney every day while also juggling work back in Port Maquarie and care for their 3 year old daughter.

They received a grant for a holiday and they chose to go on a cruise. They were all so excited and looking forward to this and, even with the stress of cyclone Alfred possibly affecting their cruise, they were still able to board. Once boarded Brad’s son slipped and broke his hip- they hadn’t even left the dock yet. They had to get an ambulance and get taken to hospital. Brads son had to have surgery where he had plates and pins inserted and he can not bear weight for 6 weeks. The impact of this has affected them all greatly, they cannot seem to catch a break. They are the most beautiful people, Brad and Rachel are the most amazing parents and their children are so strong and resilient. If we can raise money to help give this amazing family a break, and a holiday they deserve, it would be greatly appreciated. All funds raised will go towards giving them a holiday they will never forget and taking some of the mental, emotional, and financial toll this past 12 months has had on them all.
