Help Support a Black Trans Woman In Need
Hello! My name is Nicholas Tassi. I’m organizing this on behalf of my friend Lana Baldwin. She’s a kind, funny, beautiful, intelligent, and independent black trans woman living on her own in Philly. She loves helping others, make up & hair, and wants to attend cosmetology school this fall. She’s always helped me out during hard times so I created this to help support her. She needs funding for safer transportation, housing assistance, food, general needs, and tuition costs.
In her city there has been an uprise in violence against P.O.C. & T.P.O.C.. Lana recently turned 30 and with the average life expectancy of a Trans W.O.C. being 35 she is fearful for her life, along with Covid-19, police brutality against P.O.C. and trans folk, and the devastating murder of Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells. Lana is a survivor of domestic abuse, sexual assault, & discrimination and is truly the strongest person i know. She deserves a happy, stable, safe life. With our help, hopefully we can help her obtain these things.
The transgender and gender nonconforming community faces disproportionate and fatal violence at the hands of strangers, abusive partners, and police—a vulnerability heightened through transphobia-motivated brutality or vulnerability to unemployment, poverty, lack of housing, and more. Black trans women need protection in times where transmisogyny, violence, homelessness, and other hardships plague their community. The protection black trans women need is not being provided by societal services that should be provided for them. It is up to our community and allies to help support black trans women help and show that we care. Please donate whatever you can and SHARE THIS EVERYWHERE
Thank you ❤️
