Walking for the Ones We Love, the Ones We’ve Lost, and Everyone Still Fighting ❤️

This year, I’m stepping out into the night to walk a half marathon but this isn’t just a challenge for me, every step will have a meaning, and every mile will be for someone I love.

I’m walking to raise vital funds for cancer research, because behind every statistic is a person, a family, a life changed forever. Research depends so heavily on the generosity of people like you and me to keep searching for better treatments, better chances of survival, and ultimately, a cure.

I’m walking in memory of my baby brother, who we tragically lost to leukaemia in 2010. No family should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child, and although so many years have passed, his loss is something we carry with us every single day.

I’m also walking in memory of my late grandmother and more recently, special friends, one of whom we lost to a rare and incredibly aggressive NUT carcinoma just 6 months after diagnosis.

But this walk isn’t only for those we have lost. It’s also for those who have fought and won.

I’m walking for my cousin, my friend and my colleague, three incredibly strong women who have each faced their own battles with various forms of cancer, and who are thankfully now recovered. Their strength, courage and resilience are a reminder that cancer does not always get the final word.

Cancer has taken far too many precious people, memories and moments from the people I love. But I want to turn some of that pain into something positive.

So, in the darkness of that night, when my legs are tired and the miles feel long, I’ll remind myself why I’m walking: For those lost and for those who survived, including many thousands of people around the world who continue to fight.

Every step is for someone. And every donation, no matter how big or small, could help fund the research that gives someone else more time with the people they love.

Please help me make every step count. ❤️

Thank you
