These past few months have been a stressful time for us all, but the senior citizen community may have more things to worry about. Folks residing in senior living facilities are finding themselves unsure, scared and isolated, but Algo Nuevo wants to make sure they are not alone.

Algo Nuevo, an amazing band and 501(c)(3) organization out of Miami, has been involved with the senior citizen community for over two decades, producing events and providing a fun and loving outlet for our most neglected part of the city but unfortunately, the pandemic has halted their efforts.

The founder of the organization, Marisel Lopez, who is also a senior citizen, has greatly felt the effects of all this chaos and understands how this has affected them mentally. "Most of us are falling into a depression, our families and friends can’t visit us and hearing all this news makes us feel helpless. People forget about the older folks but Algo Nuevo has always been of service to the people of this community and we are coming together to show them they are loved and we are here for them.”

At the start of June, Algo Nuevo kicked off a series of live performances throughout Miami for the senior living communities, all while staying safe with their gloves and masks on. We are hoping to keep this going and this GoFundMe is to raise funds to continue those efforts for the next few months until things get back to "normal". 

100% of proceeds will go to produce these events and provide music therapy for our elders, including keeping some great musicians working. The ARTS are ESSENTIAL during these times! Hope you can join us in making a difference. Any donation will help make an impact.
