Did you know that 25% of people admitted to a mental health unit are homeless? While we try our very hardest to make sure our vulnerable community members have somewhere safe to be discharged to sometimes this isn’t possible and they are discharged back to the streets. Can you imagine trying to recover from a mental health condition while sleeping rough? 

The homelessness situation in Moreton Bay has always been dire. But with the additional complications brought about by covid-19 and a rental crisis, things feel almost impossible and our patients are losing hope. 

I can’t resolve homelessness altogether but with your help I can at least provide shelter and comfort to people less fortunate. I, together with a group of awesome running friends, am running 20 half marathons this year in an effort to purchase Backpack beds to be donated to people in the Moreton Bay community who are experiencing homelessness. One step at a time we will make a difference.
