The Riding Academy Horse Kinship Center Camp

Donation protected
My name is Grace Campion, and I am currently a junior at Notre Dame High School. I have been blessed to receive the opportunity to take over the position as director of The Riding Academy Kinship Center Horse Camp, a week-long summer camp for children who are associated with the Kinship Center. The Kinship Center is a non-profit organization, located just off River Road in the Salinas Valley, dedicated to finding foster children adequate and permanent homes. Every summer The Riding Academy, an English horse riding school in Corral De Tierra, hosts a summer horse camp for the children of the Kinship Center. We are currently seeking donations to make this camp possible.

For a school project four years ago, Devin Eastman, the founder of the camp and previous director, organized and facilitated a one day camp at The Riding Academy for the kids of the Kinship Center. The kids spent the day learning about horses, riding, playing games, and creating bonds with both the horses and each other. Just one day spent with the horses gave the children immeasurable joy and an unforgettable experience. When it was noticed how impactful just one day of horses was for the children, the idea of a week long horse camp for the kids of the Kinship Center was born.

After extensive planning and multiple meetings, one week of The Riding Academy Summer Horse Camp became exclusively dedicated to the Kinship Center foster children. With a whole week at the barn, the kids have been able to learn how to be safe around horses and how to ride, all while playing games, making crafts, and bonding with their peers and the horses. This camp is intended to teach a variety of lifelong skills and values, including the ability to form deep bonds, motor control, communication, overcoming fear, challenging oneself, setting boundaries, work ethic, responsibility, and lots of trust.

In order to make this camp become a reality for as many foster children as possible, I am looking for donations to sponsor the foster children’s camp tuition. For every tuition that is covered, another child will be admitted into the camp.

While any amount of assistance would be greatly appreciated, here are some suggested donations and how they would help the camp:

$100 would donate crafts for all the campers for the week
$175 would provide a meal for all of the campers (we try to provide lunch for children who cannot bring their own)
$350 would cover the full tuition for a child

Due to the camp beginning July 12th, donations would be appreciated before then but accepted at any time and all donations are tax deductible. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the camp, barn, or donations at [email redacted] .

Thank you for your time.
