My name is Angel Ferreira, a 22-year veteran of the United States Army.
The reason I’m raising money is to have 20 veterans participate in the 2026 National Veterans Golden Age Games, which will take place in Tampa, Florida, from June 27
through July 2. Also, the wheelchair games taking place in Detroit from July 17 through July 22.
The funds raised will go towards travel and hotel accommodations for these disabled veterans to participate in these games. Here are a few testimonials from some of these veterans.
My name is Jeremy Blake Lund. I’m 33 years old and an Army veteran. A fall crushed multiple vertebrae in my lower back, leaving me in a wheelchair and unable to use my legs. Through months of recovery therapy and adaptive sports, I’ve regained my drive and my joyful life. Recreational therapy and adaptive sports like cycling, track, and field have given me purpose, motivation, and a sense of freedom I never thought I’d have. Your support will help me continue participating in adaptive sports, access specialized equipment, and attend events that keep me active, healthy, and engaged. Every donation empowers veterans like me to reclaim independence, build confidence, and stay strong, both physically and mentally. Thank you for helping me keep moving forward.
My name is Michael Betts, and I am an Air Force veteran who served for four years. I lost my sight 20 years ago, and for a long time, I felt hopeless, isolated, and unsure of my purpose. Adaptive sports gave me my life back through archery, tandem cycling, and other programs. I’ve regained confidence, community, and strength. I’ve even learned to hit the bull’s-eye, something I never imagined I could do. After surviving three aneurysm surgeries, I’m more determined than ever to stay active, compete, and inspire others with disabilities to keep fighting. Your support will help me continue training and allow me to compete in the National Golden Age Games, a goal that means the world to me. Your generosity helps keep my body strong and my spirit alive. Thank you for helping me keep moving forward.
My name is Pastor Bill. I am 76 years old. I served 18 1/2 years in the United States Army. After being crushed in the DMZ in Korea in 1980, doctors told me I would never walk again, but I proved them wrong. I took three steps before being medevac'd out. Adaptive sports and the National Golden Age Games have truly saved my life. They got me back into the sports I love: cycling, competing, and pushing myself again for 14 years. These programs have given me strength, purpose, and a community that believes in me. The Golden Age Games push you to do things people say you can’t do, but the real power is in the mind. Your body may say no, but your mind says yes. That belief has carried me through every challenge. Your support will help new riders and veterans travel across the country so they can experience the same healing, courage, and hope that saved my life. Thank you for your support, and God bless.
You have just heard the testimony of several disabled veterans. Thank you for your support and for giving us a better quality of life.
