I am Chyra Strong, a third-year English and History major with a minor in Law Ethics and Philosophy on the pre-law track at the University of Georgia.

Christopher’s Haven is a non-profit organization that helps provide room and board for families who have children who are receiving medical treatment for cancer, free of charge. Christopher’s Haven is so important to me, because my family stayed in one of their locations when my sister was receiving treatment in Boston. She had childhood cancer twice before she was even ten, an Anaplastic Ependymoma of the brain at five, that metastasized to her spine when she was seven. My sister beat cancer and is now married and an amazing mother to my niece. Seeing her strength during her life is something that has helped mold me into the woman I am today. My sister was able to receive the help she needed, while being supported by Christopher’s Haven which has since expanded, to a chapter within Atlanta, named Joyce’s Place.

Thanks to the Beta Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi, I can help support Joyce’s Place and their mission to continually provide support to families affected by childhood cancer. Thank you.
