On this Memorial Day, we gather again, not just to walk, but to honor, reflect, and remember. The 2026 Memorial Day Ruck is more than a physical journey—it is a solemn tribute to those who have served our country with unwavering courage, and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
We will begin the 3.2-mile Memorial Ruck at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where we will hear words from its Director, Alan J. Burnham, setting the tone for our Ruck. With the American flag proudly leading the way, each participant will have the honor of carrying it, a symbol of unity and resilience, as we make our way down the Heritage Trail toward the Ohio River. Our journey will end at Bicentennial Park, where refreshments, generously provided by our sponsors—Steel & Steam Coffee Company and Box Drop Mattress—will be waiting.
The conclusion of the Ruck will be marked by a ceremonial tribute. Under the banner of our nation’s flag, each participant will receive an honor patch, presented by retired Army veteran Bill Lewis—a token of appreciation for their commitment to this meaningful journey.
With a mission to raise $5,000 for the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, we strive to support its dedication to providing "a place of honor for those who serve."
Today, we walk for those who can no longer walk alongside us. Today, we remember. Today, we honor.
Lest we forget.
