Support the 2026 Bass Coast Winter Shelter - together we can make a real difference this winter
With no government funding, the Bass Coast Winter Shelter is community-driven. We rely on the generosity of local people, businesses and community groups to provide a warm and safe place for people experiencing homelessness during the coldest months of the year.
This season, to operate the shelter we need to raise $20,000. We’ve already been fortunate enough to receive a $5,000 from a generous donor and we’ve applied for a $10,000 funding grant to support the Project Coordinator role.
This means we need to raise $5,000 from the local community to help cover the essential day-to-day costs of running the winter shelter.
Donations will fund the following:
- Warm meals and food supplies
- Heating and electricity
- Bedding and basic supplies
- Volunteer training and support
- Transport for guests
- Operational costs that keep the shelter running each night
If you’re able to help, please consider making a donation here. Every contribution will make a difference.
As of 2026, and for larger donations, we now offer Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status for donations made to the winter shelter.
The payment is made direct to Australian Neighbourhood Houses and Centres Associ ation (ANHCA). Through PICAL’s agreement with ANHCA payments are tax deductible and are transferred to the winter shelter less a 5% administration fee.
Information on completing the DGR status donation can be found on the PICAL website .
Alternatively, you may wish to contact the Project Coordinator on 0492 859 637 to discuss your donation.
