What is World Refugee Day?
World Refugee Day, observed annually on June 20, is a global day of recognition and solidarity with refugees around the world. It honors their strength, resilience, and the rich contributions they bring to the communities they now call home. It’s a moment to uplift voices that too often go unheard—and to celebrate belonging in all its forms.
Why We’re Raising Funds
This year, our World Refugee Day celebration in Fargo–Moorhead is more important than ever—but we’re facing a significant funding shortfall. For the first time in years, we did not receive the full budget we typically rely on to host this meaningful community event.
In response, six local organizations have come together in collaboration to both organize and fundraise for this year’s celebration. Together, we are committed to keeping this day alive—bringing refugee and immigrant families, allies, and supporters together in a vibrant space of culture, connection, and community.
