2022 Philly Marathon for Harboring Hearts

On November 20th, I will be running the Philadelphia Marathon, my second marathon! I am running to raise money for Harboring Hearts https://www.harboringhearts.org/, an organization dedicated to providing emergency housing, transportation, food and other critical resources to heart transplant and cardiac surgery patients and their families.

This organization's mission is very personal to me. In 2013 during the fall semester of my junior year at Georgetown, I was diagnosed with myocarditis and admitted to the critical cardiac care unit at Weill Cornell/New York Presbyterian Hospital. My condition quickly worsened and caused Congestive Heart Failure. After a long week of procedures, specialists, and medications in the ICU, my heart function started to improve. I was discharged from the hospital on an external defibrillator just before Thanksgiving.

I finished that semester of college at my parent's house in NJ and began going on walks around the neighborhood with my mom. Before the diagnosis, I exercised daily and slowly got back into running once my cardiologist gave me the ok. Four years ago, I was cleared by my cardiologist to run a half marathon, and I have since run the Brooklyn Half twice, Philly Half, and NYC Half! In November 2021, I ran my first marathon in Philly and I am SO excited to do it again this year!

Last year, I joined the Junior Board of Harboring Hearts so I could give back to heart disease patients and families in need. I am forever grateful to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Weill Cornell/NYP who provided me with world-class care and did everything they could to ensure I fully recovered.

Every donation to my Philly Marathon run will be directly donated to Harboring Hearts to support patients, families and caregivers in need who have financial hardship associated with a heart transplant and cardiothoracic surgery.
