Hi, my name is Cyanna Padmore and this summer myself and a group of twenty-six other students have the incredible opportunity of traveling to Panama with Rutgers University's Medical Global Brigades program. Global Brigades is a non-profit organization that helps strengthen under-resourced communities by providing the volunteers to help the community build a brighter and sustainable future. Global Brigades has partnered with many universities, including Rutgers, to give college students an opportunity to be a part of this amazing work.
This will be my first brigade and it would mean so much to me to be able to volunteer as I believe these brigades make a huge difference in peoples lives and communities around the world. While in Panama, we will spend several days helping in a medical clinic in triage, gathering medication for the pharmacy unit, data informatics, and leading an educational workshop on various health topics, such as, dental hygiene and women's health and so much more!
I am extremely excited and blessed to be able to positively impact the lives of people in Panama through assistance in the clinic or the information in the workshop. I am also looking to take on a career in medicine and having this type of hands on experience will allow me to further my learning and apply concepts that I have only used in a classroom thus far.
The money donated will be used to support the cost of my trip, including airfare, medications, and in-country food, lodging and transportation. The trip will take place May 29, 2019, but the total amount is due May 10. Any donation will help! I am very excited about this trip and thankful for those supporting me.
